Adult Classes

Kung-fu offers the benefits of cardiovascular health, muscle tone, and
stress management in addition to a degree of self-protection. The Black
Dragon system of kung-fu is also adaptable to a practitioner's abilities
making it ideal for seniors or those who have suffered an injury otherwise
prohibiting them from taking part in a martial art.

Although some elements of the art can be physically challenging, Professor Ike
Bear improvises specific techniques within an individuals training to fit their
individual goals and helping them overcome any obstacles that maybe
encountered. Movement within the kung-fu patterns enhances range of motion
and increase motor skills for those who have suffered any debilitating
injury or illness.

The mental health benefits of kung-fu stem from the self-confidence and stress
management achieved through the workout. Although kung-fu contains fighting
techniques, a sense of tranquility may be developed by establishing
self-empowerment and self-worth. This has been found especially true for
children by gaining self-esteem do not develop a victimizing nor a victim
attitude often associated with a low degree of self-worth.

Professor Bear has been involved in martial arts since the age of seven, and is
currently head of the Black Dragon Kung-Fu system as passed on to him by his
teacher Grand Master Wu Han-Su. A variety of classes are offered by Professor
Bear who specializes in working with special needs kids and adults with
physical challenges.
